Xtalic is currently piloting use of these revolutionary nanostructured alloys with industry partners in three key areas: decorative coatings, functional coatings and electronics applications.
Decorative
Xtalic’s metals can be tailored to produce a durable, bright, lustrous finish with an appearance that can be tuned to resemble colors and finishes ranging from stainless steel to satin nickel. These coatings offer a high level of corrosion and scratch resistance able to meet demanding decorative applications like vehicle exteriors and sporting equipment.
Our customers are committed to top quality performance in decorative applications without the use of hexavalent chrome. Our product is a good fit if removing toxic materials like hexavalent chrome is part of your company’s commitment to good stewardship of worker safety and the environment.
Functional
Xtalic’s materials can be tailored to produce wear resistance exceeding that of hard chrome for many applications using a process that is simple and low cost relative to many kinds of performance coatings. Our corrosion resistance for these coatings is also high and outperforms hard chrome in many demanding environments. The combination of excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance make our coating a great alternative to hard chrome. With these properties and good bath stability, our coating is a very good replacement for electroless nickel and for most applications a better solution than HVOF coatings.
Our customers are seeking solutions for increased wear in a range of applications, and value the ability to achieve a better value than hard chrome without the environmental and worker safety issues associated with hexavalent chrome. Our products are a good fit if your firm is seeking a cost effective, better performing solution and you consider reduction in use of toxic substances to be part of your corporate citizenship efforts.
Electronics
The properties of Xtalic’s nanostructured metal alloys have a strong fit in a range of electronics applications. The introduction of higher performing thin layers of our material as a barrier layer can result in higher reliability and/or the reduction in the amount of gold or other precious metals required on connector surfaces.
Our customers are seeking solutions that increase performance and reduce cost, with the additional benefit of reducing overall material consumption.
